Thank you for supporting the return of racegoers to Newcastle Racecourse.
With social distancing still in place during this time, we have put in place a range of new safety measures to welcome back spectators in a Covid-secure way.
Things might be a little different but we’re confident you’ll still be able to enjoy all the excitement and fun you’d expect from a great day at the races!

What To Expect – Key Information
Advance Bookings Only
Tickets are only available in advance and cannot be bought on the gate to ensure all racegoers complete Track & Trace.
Social Distancing
Racegoers must comply with the two-metre rule whilst at the races.
One Way Systems
Please pay attention to the clear signage that will direct you around the racecourse in the safest way possible.
Card Only Bars
Only card payments are permitted to reduce the handling of cash.
Face Masks
Face masks must be worn by everyone who isn’t exempt for medical reasons in all inside areas.
Sanitising Stations
Racegoers should maintain regular hand sanitising using the on-site stations.
Rule of Six
The Rule of Six applies or a maximum of two separate households can socialise in all inside areas.

Before you arrive
Your responsibilities as a spectator, are as follows;
- If you display any Covid 19 symptoms on the day you are due to attend the racecourse or are required to self-isolate, please email, info@newcastle-racecourse.co.uk to receive a transfer or full refund. You cannot attend the meeting if displaying Covid symptoms, neither can any member of your social bubble or household.
- All guests MUST adhere to the requirements of the racecourse Code Of Conduct and all social distancing protocols
- Ensure you have completed the test and trace requirements
How do I book tickets and are there any restrictions?
All tickets must be booked online and must be booked in. We are unable to sell tickets on the gate. Advance tickets close at midnight the day before racing (or when capacity has been reached).
Concessions – A £5 discount will be available for concessions (65+ and Students) on standard admission tickets only. Concession tickets will be available online seven days before each fixture. Upon entry, valid ID may be required, so please bring with you (NUS Student Card/driver’s license). Tickets will be emailed to you and will need to be either printed out or shown on your phone.
Inside Areas: Government rules and regulations on household mixing inside applies (restaurant and hospitality bookings, plus when visiting any internal area during your visit):
- As a maximum of two separate households (proof of address may be requested)
- As a group of six from different households
Outside Areas: From 17th May, there are no limits on how many people can meet outside.
Therefore, you may attend in larger groups as long as you remain outside.
Everyone who attends must complete the NHS Track & Trace details at the checkout.
How do I book a table in the restaurant or a hospitality facility?
All restaurant and hospitality bookings must be made in advance.
Our available restaurant packages will be available online only.

What should I expect when I arrive at the course?
When arriving at the racecourse, please have your photo ID and e-ticket ready to be checked. We also ask customers to maintain social distancing if having to queue.
Only customers who have booked or registered for their ticket in advance will be allowed to enter the racecourse.
Face masks must be worn in all inside areas (unless medically exempt) throughout the event, including when visiting the bathroom or bar. You may remove your face mask inside when sat down to consume food or drink. Face masks aren’t required when outside but we’d encourage you to continue wearing covering when queueing.
Please be aware that your temperature may be taken upon entry.
How to get to the racecourse?
You can arrive at the racecourse on foot, by public transport and by car with your own household or support bubble.
Spectators are encouraged to use private transport where possible.

What can I/can’t I bring with me?
Everyone attending must ensure they bring with them:
- Your e-ticket. This can either be printed or shown on your phone
- Photographic ID to gain access with your ticket
- A face mask
Please keep bags no larger than A4 size. Please be aware that no food or drink can be brought into the racecourse.
What shall I wear?
This is an outdoor event with limited indoor facilities so we strongly encourage you to dress with comfort in mind and be prepared for the expected weather! With current dress codes relaxed during this period, we do still ask that guests in either hospitality or the restaurant opt for a smart-casual attire and politely request that no sportswear is worn.
What time shall I arrive?
Please check the website for the most up-to-date times. Gates normally open two hours before the first race. Please allow extra time for entry as there may be delays for ID and other checks due to Covid-19 Regulations.
You may be asked to arrive at the racecourse within a specific timeslot. If required, this information will clearly be shown on your e-ticket confirmation email.
What security measures should I expect?
You may be subject to a bag search on arrival. Please ensure bags are no larger than A4 size as these will not be permitted.
Please be aware that only food and drink purchased at the racecourse can be consumed whilst visiting. No food or drink can be brought into the racecourse.
What food and drink will be available?
A range of delicious food and selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks can be purchased from our various quality outlets across the racecourse.
Please make sure you’re seated whilst consuming all food and drink, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
We have taken steps to reduce queues for ordering and ensure social distancing is maintained at all times.

- Card payment only (no cash option)
- Bars close before the penultimate race.
Can I smoke?
If you smoke, please use the designated smoking areas on the lawns.
Can I still buy a racecard?
As a Covid secure venue, we are unable to provide any printed material including racecards. Racecards will be available to view here and will also be emailed prior to the fixture you are attending.
Are you accepting cash payments?
The racecourse will operate as a cashless venue and we will only be accepting card payments at our bars and payment points.
The only outlet that will accept cash is the on-course Bookmakers.
Our ATMS’s will not be in operation, so if you wish to place a cash bet with a bookmaker please bring this with you. The tote accepts debit card payments (not credit card).
Can I place a bet?
We are delighted to welcome back Tote betting on-course.
There will be Tote kiosks throughout the racecourse offering the full range of bets on all UK and Irish racing.
Bets can be placed via debit card or via mobile, though a cash service with the Tote will be available if needed. You also have the option to bet with the Tote website on your mobile phone or use the on-course bookmakers.
How do I leave the racecourse?
Please be considerate to all those leaving and maintain social distancing. We request that you leave the racecourse and make your way safely directly home.
