The BetVictor Fighting Fifth Hurdle promises to be one of the greatest ever, with the best hurdlers from the UK and Ireland declared for the race on Saturday.
As the first Grade 1 hurdle of the National Hunt season, it is only fitting that the line-up features an array of top class Grade 1 winners, looking to make their mark early in the season on the road to potential Champion Hurdle success in March.
Six were declared on Thursday morning for the race, they are:
- Bedrock (Iain Jardine / Rachel Blackmore)
- Bleu Et Rouge (Ben Haslam / William Kennedy)
- Buveur D'Air (Nicky Henderson / Barry Geraghty) - pictured left above
- Samcro (Gordon Elliott / Jack Kennedy) - pictured centre above
- Summerville Boy (Tom George / Noel Fehily) - pictured right above
- Vision des Flos (Colin Tizzard / Robbie Power)
Between the six runners, they have amassed 11 Grade 1 victories, including; two Champion Hurdles, two Deloitte Novice Hurdles, a Ballymore Novices Hurdle, a Supreme Novices Hurdle, a Tolworth Novices Hurdle, a Christmas Hurdle, a Fighting Fifth Hurdle and an Aintree Hurdle.
