The Fighting Fifth Hurdle 2025 is one of the most prestigious Grade 1 hurdle races in the UK horse racing calendar. This Grade 1 hurdle is the first major test of the jumps season. The race is named after the nickname of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers and carries decades of racing heritage.
The Fighting Fifth Hurdle roll of honour features some of hurdling’s greatest stars, including Constitution Hill, Epatante, and Buveur d'Air. In 2021, fans witnessed a historic dead heat between Epatante and outsider Not So Sleepy – a reminder that anything can happen at Newcastle races.
